Quote

I was going to call this the quote of the day, but after realizing that I do not post a quote every day, I decided that it would have to be the quote of however long it takes me to post another one, because I wouldn't want any day to go quote-less! Wow, that sentence has like 25 commas in it. Anyway, here it is:

"If you fear making people mad, then you ultimately probe for the lowest common denominator of human achievement."
-Jimmy Carter

I think anyone who knows me would pretty much understand why I like that one. I personally get the most done when I am angry, so I feel like I should take every opportunity to rile others up, so they can also be productive. Also, I like being righteously furious, so I feel the need to share the joy with others, because I am that kind of selfless person...

Now that we are done with my modesty, Amanda I am really glad you got to go to Texas, to be with your family and Mema of course. And I am already making good and cheery plans for spring break that mostly involve really loud rockin music. haha.

So now, after reading my post, everyone should feel free to go share the love and make some people mad, or write a post that will make me mad, if you are feeling especially generous. Anybody wanna talk about feminism, or abortion...?

I don't particularly care about Jimmy Carter, mostly because the only thing I know about him is that he was a peanut farmer from GA and that he has a lot to do with Habitat for Humanity, or something like that. Oh, and that my dad says he was a lousy president, but that he has done lots of good things since he has been out of office. But I personally don't care what you think about him, or why, since I don't have much of an opinion. I was just wondering what the correlation was. By the way, I told your joke to my friends at dinner, even though I don't think it is that funny. They felt sorry for the third woman, so that kind of lessened the humor.

Krista, do you think you could have offended any more people in your comment? Also, the quote... There are really no words for my opinion on that.

Oh, and thanks for the non-committal suggestion, mcgibfried.

I LOVE loud rockin music! There is one song in particular I have in mind. You probably won't like it, but I think Amanda, and probably Krista will.

Amen to the abortion comments.

Also, raising children is important - anyone who disagrees should think about the sacrifices their parents made for them - but so is equality. The mother should not be forced to make the most sacrifices for her children. If she chooses to, fine, but the father should be expected to make sacrifices, to. I think this often takes the form of women sacrificing their career, and men working harder to make more money in order to support their families. However, this should not be the only successful model for family life in America, nor should it be the only one that is supported by the business world. So I think my point is that too many women are forced to settle for a life that seems to them incomplete simply because they want children, and they want them to have the attention they deserve. Women should not be forced to choose between children and a career, just as men aren't forced to make this choice.
